ESPN Deportes Presents Record-Breaking
VI World Domino Championship

ESPN Deportes and the World Domino Federation presented the VI World Domino Championship at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Fla. Thursday, July 10 – Saturday, July 12. This year's championship broke the Guinness World Record for "Most People Playing Dominoes," with 332 players helping surpass the previous record of 300. The three-day event gathered over 554 domino enthusiasts, with representation from nine countries from Latin America, Canada, Portugal, Spain, Russia and the United States. Read More...

Dominoes 2008 on ESPN Deportes
The VI World Domino Championship from Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Fla will be televised in September.
  • Participating U.S. domino enthusiasts were given the opportunity to compete with 22 other countries, vying for cash prizes totaling $30,000 and break the Guinness World Record™ for “Most People Playing Dominoes.”
  • For the first time in a professional domino event, the World Domino Championship had a “Double-Six Youth Exhibition Competition” featuring children ages 12-16.
  • For television coverage, ESPN Deportes will produce three one-hour shows featuring the semifinals and finals.
Tournament Rules
The matches will be played using the FID (Federación Internacional de Dominó) rules. The tournament is organized through SWISS rounds, their number to be determined by the attendance. The matches will be played for either (200) points or (40) minutes, whichever comes first. All games started by the end of regulation time must be finished. This means that at the end of (40) minutes the team with the highest score WINS. Read More...
