ABC's Coverage of NBA Finals Games 1 and 2 Dominate Prime Time

Game 2 of The NBA Finals on ABC was seen by the most viewers of any show on television last night, four percent more than Game 2 a year ago, 64% higher than Game 2 in 2007 and the second highest in ABC’s current seven-year history with the NBA.  The game saw the Los Angeles Lakers defeat the Orlando Magic 101-96 in overtime to take a 2-0 in the best-of-seven championship series.  Read more...

NBA Finals Game 2 on ABC Leads All Networks for Big Sunday Win

ABC "won the night" among all networks with its coverage of Game 1 of The NBA Finals, dominating its competition by averaging more viewers and adults than any other show.  Despite the lopsided nature of the game, as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Orlando Magic by 25 points (100-75), ABC handily beat its nearest competitors in prime time by 2.8 million viewers (10.1 million vs. 7.3 million – CBS) and by 71% in Adults 18-49 (4.1 vs. 2.4– Fox).  Read more...

ESPN’s exclusive telecast of the NBA Western Conference Finals Game 4 between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets Monday, May 25, at 9 p.m. ET earned a 6.9 rating, representing an average of 6,746,000 households and 9,883,000 viewers (P2+) to become the most-viewed NBA game ever on cable (among viewers). ESPN’s telecast of the NBA Conference Semifinal Game 3 between the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets Friday, May 8, at 9:30 p.m. earned a 4.5 rating representing an average of 4,432,000 household impressions and 5,952,000 viewers (P2+) to become the most-viewed conference semifinal game ever on the network. NBA Playoff Push Vignettes Airing on ESPN

ESPN and ABC have begun airing NBA Playoff Push vignettes tracking some of the teams making their run towards the postseason.   The ESPN-produced, 30-second sports are running at halftime of ESPN and ABC games, along with NBA studio programming.  The vignettes are available under the Video-Multimedia section.

ESPN Analysts Project NBA Playoff Contenders
