ESPN and Time Warner Cable announced today the addition of 24-hour college sports network ESPNU to Time Warner Cable’s digital basic channel line-up in New York and New Jersey as of August 30. As part of Time Warner Cable’s corporate commitment to carry ESPNU in all systems throughout its footprint by the end of August, the addition of the New York and New Jersey division will help ESPNU double its availability to approximately 20 million households later this month. ESPNU aired nearly 200 men’s and more than 40 women’s college basketball games last season. Exclusive appearances were made by Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, Syracuse, Tennessee and Texas, among other top-ranked teams.
“New Yorkers are avid sports enthusiasts and are particularly passionate about following their favorite college teams,” stated Barbara Kelly, senior vice president and general manager, Time Warner Cable of New York and New Jersey. “We know our customers will find ESPNU programming compelling and look forward to bringing key college games to Time Warner Cable of New York and New Jersey customers.”
