Alex Pombo serves as an analyst for motorsports on ESPN in Latin America. He is the Spanish-language commentator for NASCAR and the IndyCar Series. He is also the co-host of RPM Weekly.
Pombo first worked for ESPN International from 1994-2003 as a producer and commentator for various racing programs. He returned to the company in 2005.
Born in Mexico City, Mexico, Pombo began his motorsports career as a teenager. He participated as a driver, mechanic and director in various highlighted categories including the Formula Vee, Formula Ford, Formula 3, prototypes, GT and Formula 1 International.
Thanks to his experience on and off the track, Pombo is considered one of the leading experts and commentators in the world of motorsports.
Pombo began his television career in 1986 by participating in the production of the Grand Prix of Mexico. Shortly after, he started commentating and reporting on Multivision (covering the participation of Adrian Fernandez in the United States Indy Light series). Upon arriving at ESPN, the former driver became involved as a producer and commentator for various motorsports programs including Al Limite, and covering Latin motorsports, Indy Car series, Formula Atlantic, NASCAR, Winston Cup, and the Barber Dodge and Indy Light.
