Richie Basile

NASCAR Lead Director

Lead director for ESPN’s coverage of NASCAR since 2007, Richie Basile sits next to the ESPN producer in the ESPN production trailer during race telecasts and “calls” the camera shots from a dizzying bank of monitors and camera angles. He also works closely with the operators of the manned and remote cameras in advance of and during race telecasts on locations, angles, etc.

Basile served as Fox Sports’ lead technical director on NASCAR and its premier NFL production team for more than six years before joining ESPN for the 2007 season. He also directed many of Fox’s NASCAR telecasts and received four Emmy awards during his time with Fox.

Basile was graduated from St. John’s University in 1990 with a bachelor of arts in communications.
