Britt McHenry joined ESPN in March 2014. She is the company’s Washington, D.C.-based bureau reporter, covering major sports stories there and elsewhere for SportsCenter, Sunday NFL Countdown, Baseball Tonight and other programs, as well as ESPN digital platforms.
Prior to ESPN, McHenry spent four years (2010-14) as a sports reporter in Washington at ABC7/WJLA-TV and two years at News Channel 8 (2008-10), where she began her career as a community reporter and weekend morning-show anchor.
As a local reporter, McHenry covered Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg’s first big league camp; was the first D.C. reporter to secure a sit-down interview with Bryce Harper when he was just 17; covered the 2012 Nationals-Cardinals NLDS; and landed one-on-one interviews with Redskins owner Dan Snyder (days after he sued the Washington City Paper) and former head coach Mike Shanahan during his last season. McHenry also covered the Ravens, providing sideline post-game reports during Baltimore’s 2013 AFC Championship and co-hosting an hour-long Super Bowl special.
McHenry earned her master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, and holds a bachelor’s degree from Stetson University where she was a member of the school’s Division I soccer team. She is a native of Mount Holly Township, N.J., and grew up in Satellite Beach, Fla.
