Guillermo Celis

Baseball Commentator

Since joining ESPN in 1997, Guillermo Celis has served as a play-by-play announcer, analyst and reporter for ESPN Deportes and ESPN International’s baseball coverage. He has also covered a variety of other sports including football, college basketball and OEFA- Mexico’s college football.

Celis has covered a wide range of baseball, football and basketball events, led by Major League Baseball, the Caribbean Series, the Mexican Summer and Winter Leagues, Little League World Series, NCAA World Series and various baseball specials. In addition to calling more than 700 baseball games, he has covered broadcasts of Mexican soccer and NCAA football and basketball.

A Mexico City native, Celis started his broadcasting career in radio with Publieventos Deportivos, working as a baseball play-by-play announcer and analyst. Over the years he has called hundreds of baseball games on radio from Major League Baseball – including the playoffs, World Series and All-Star Game – to the Mexican Baseball League and Caribbean Series.  He was the official voice in Mexico of MLB’s Los Angeles Dodgers from 1998 to 2000, hosting their games for Radio. In addition, Celis hosted Sports Radio 98, a program covering the 1998 World Cup from France, and El Show del Béisbol in 2000.

A graduate of the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, Celis is based at ESPN’s Bristol, Connecticut headquarters.
