Play-by-Play Commentator, ESPN Deportes and ESPN International

Ernesto Jerez, a veteran broadcast journalist, is the play-by-play commentator for ESPN Deportes and ESPN International’s Sunday Night Baseball telecasts, a position he has held since 1995.  Jerez has called hundreds of games for ESPN, including every Major League Baseball All-Star Game since 1998 and every World Series since 1997.  Jerez called the semifinals and championship game of the World Baseball Classic in 2006, 2009 and 2013.

Jerez is known for his signature home-run call, “No no no no no, díganle que no a esa pelota,” a catch phrase that has become a symbol of passion and emotion in the world of baseball.

In addition to Major League Baseball duties, Jerez serves as the voice for network’s telecast of winter baseball from the Dominican Republic, the Caribbean Series and hosted the winter edition of the weekly baseball program Béisbol Esta Noche (Baseball Tonight). Jerez has also serves as the commentator for the All Star Game and the finals of Mexican Baseball League for ESPN in Latin America. He is also the play-by-play commentator for NBA games, college basketball, and hosted Perfiles, a series of half-hour portraits that took an in-depth look at the lives of Latin American athletes in-and-off the field.

In 1995, Jerez extended his commentator duties to ESPN International edition of Sportscenter and since September 2012 Jerez has become the host of Firma ESPN for ESPN Deportes Radio Nueva York 1050AM.

Prior to joining ESPN, Jerez worked for several cable and broadcast entities including the Discovery Channel, WCVB-TV and WUNI-TV in Boston.

Jerez attended Pontificia Universidad Cátolica Madre in the Dominican Republic, graduating in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business.  In 1995, he graduated from the Northeast Broadcast School, currently the Massachusetts School of Communications, in Boston.
