College Football, Basketball Announcer
Two-time Emmy Award winner Dave Neal joined ESPN in 2009. He handles play-by-play for ESPN Regional Television’s SEC Network, for football and men’s basketball in addition to bowl games and the FCS Championship on ESPN networks. He also calls regular-season college baseball games and the College World Series for ESPN, including the ESPNU Thursday Night SEC Baseball Game of the Week.
Neal has been the longtime voice of the Southeastern Conference for Fox Sports Net, calling SEC basketball and baseball games for more than a decade while serving as host of a weekly program, SEC-TV, since its inception in 1995.
Neal also served as the play-by-play voice for Raycom Sports live telecasts of SEC football and basketball and has handled the courtside host responsibilities for Raycom’s SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament coverage. He provided radio play-by-play of SEC Championship events, including football and basketball, since 1999 for IMG and hosted the popular weekly syndicated show The SEC Football Report, which has been on the air since the late 1990s. Neal also has provided television play-by-play and hosting duties for Sun Sports and Versus.
In 1993, Neal started with Fox Sports Net as a reporter for the network’s Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Hawks pregame shows. He has called play-by-play for FSN’s Major League Baseball and NBA telecasts and hosted THE DODGE BRAVES REPORT – Fox Sports Net’s live pregame show for its telecasts of Braves games. Neal has covered numerous special events and hosted several programs for the network, including the NFL Super Bowl Channel, Inside the SEC Championships, and he hosted the XII Pan American Games from Mar Del Plata, Argentina.
Before joining Fox Sports Net, Neal was a sports anchor from 1989-93 for WTXL-TV in Tallahassee, Fla.
Neal is a graduate of Florida State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in communications in 1989.
