Richard Méndez joined the team of ESPN in late 2006 as a soccer commentator and one of the analysts of ESPN Deportes’ show Fuera de Juego.
As a part of ESPN, Méndez has participated in Repaso al fútbol de Centroamérica y El Caribe and Pitazo Final, weekly columns that are published on ESPNsoccernet.com, columns that also publish interviews that showcase soccer players from international leagues such as that of Spain, Italy and Germany.
Méndez began his career in media in 1994 in RCTV (Radio Caracas Television). As a soccer commentator and analyst he has had the opportunity to cover many important and historical games such as; 9 Copas Libertadores, 3 Copas Américas, 3 Copas del Mundo of FIFA, the Spanish la Liga, the Italian Calcio de la Serie A, Premier League, UEFA Champions League, the Eurocopa de Naciones, Fútbol Venezolano, MLS and special events such as 2005’s Mundial Juvenil, Copa Juventud de América, and The Central American and Caribbean Games as well as many others.
Throughout his professional career, Méndez has received various awards and decorations in Venezuela for his career and contributions in media. He was decorated with the order Delio Amado León in first class awarded by the Los Salias municipality, decorated with the Félix Hugo Palacios in first class by the Carrizal municipality, as well as the prize for Social good Communicator by the Mayor of the Carrizal municipality.
Richard was born on February 16th, 1970 in Caracas, Venezuela.
