ROBERT AGUILAR “DJ ROB SWIFT”

ESPNU DJ, UNITE

Robert Aguilar, known in the music industry as “DJ Rob Swift”, is the daily in-studio DJ for ESPNU’s midnight sports entertainment show UNITE. Swift is the live soundtrack for the show, spinning vinyl at 33-1/3 revolutions per minute to highlights, interviews and debates.

Swift is the network’s first musician to have a daily on-air role. He has worked with ESPN previous to the show’s August 2012 and also appeared on Nickelodeon, MTV’s Video Music Awards, The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Sesame Street. He practices turntablism, scratching rhythms and blends using only his hands on the record.

His career began in 1991 with the Harlem-based DJ crew the X-ecutioners (previously X-Men). The group is well known for their hit “It’s Goin’ Down” featuring Linkin Park. He has since released several solo albums in addition to two DVDs “As the Technics Spin” plus “DJ Rob Swift: Live! The Document Movement”.

In addition to Linkin Park, Swift has collaborated with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Herbie Hancock, The Blue Man Group, Good Charlotte and Mike Patton. His music styling has ranged from hip-hop to latin jazz to classical. Swift has made DJ Times “America’s Top 100 DJs” list in both 2011 and 2012.

Swift is from Queens, N.Y. where he started DJing at 12 years old. He teaches his turntabilsm techniques with a comprehensive course at Lang University.
