Michael Smith is a co-host for the daily sports discussion program His & Hers with Jemele Hill. His & Hers debuted in 2014 following the success of Hill and Smith’s podcast of the same name. The show airs weekdays at noon ET on ESPN2 and new editions of the podcast are available regularly. Both the show and the podcast focus on the top sports-related storylines of the day along with elements of entertainment news and current social dialogue.
In 2016, Smith joined Fantasy Football Now and Fantasy Football Kickoff to provide insight and analysis as part of ESPN’s 2016 Fantasy Football coverage. Fantasy Football Now airs Sundays at 11 a.m. ET on ESPN2 and Fantasy Football Kickoff airs Tuesday’s at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN.
Since joining ESPN in 2004, Smith has regularly appeared on ESPN studio programs in a wide variety of roles including as an NFL reporter and insider for SportsCenter, NFL Live and Sunday NFL Countdown. He also periodically appears as a panelist on Around the Horn and The Sports Reporters. Previously, he was a correspondent for E:60 from 2007-10.
Prior to joining ESPN, Smith was a reporter for the Boston Globe (2001-2004) where he served as the paper’s NFL and New England Patriots beat writer.
Smith began his journalism career while a student at Loyola University in his hometown of New Orleans by serving as a sports reporter and copy editor for the New Orleans Times-Picayune. He received a bachelor of science degree in mass communication in 2001.
