Men's College Basketball Analysts

Former NBA player and collegiate All-American Stephen Howard joined ESPN in 2007 as a college basketball commentator. He previously worked as a studio analyst on ESPN’s Buzzer Beater – the weekly live cut-in and highlights network.

Howard has worked as a studio analyst for both the Longhorn Network and Fox Sports Net’s “Thunder Live” for the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder, and he continues to provide studio analysis for “Pelicans Live” on FOX Sports, doing pre- and post-game work focused on the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans.

Howard was a power forward in the NBA from 1992-98 for the Utah Jazz, Seattle Supersonics and the San Antonio Spurs. He also played professionally in 12 different countries.

A graduate of DePaul University, Howard earned a business management degree in 1992 and was a two-time member of the Academic All-American First Team. The captain of the men’s basketball team – where he stands as the fifth all-time leading scorer and rebounder in school history – Howard was inducted into the DePaul University Hall of Fame in 2009.

Howard is a member of the Board of Managers of the Oak Cliff YMCA in his hometown of Dallas, Texas. He is also a professional speaker and founder of Stephen Howard Speaks LLC, as well as the CEO of Project Basketball – a charitable organization aimed to teach children the fundamentals of basketball while implementing educational programs. He has been a consultant for the National Consortium for Academic & Sports since 2008.
