ESPN will televise all five Bowl Championship Series games, including the Discover BCS National Championship (No. 1 Notre Dame vs. No. 2 Alabama) on Monday, Jan. 7, at 8:30 p.m. ET.

ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ABC will combine to televise six games on New Year’s Day:

  • Noon: TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl (Mississippi State vs. No. 20 Northwestern) on ESPN2 and Heart of Dallas Bowl (Purdue vs. No. 13 Oklahoma State) on ESPNU.
  • 1 p.m.: Capital One Bowl (No. 7 Georgia vs. No. 16 Nebraska) on ABC and Outback Bowl (No. 10 South Carolina vs. No. 18 Michigan) on ESPN.
  • 5 p.m.: Rose Bowl Game Presented by Vizio (Wisconsin vs. No. 6 Stanford) on ESPN.
  • 8:30 p.m.: Discover Orange Bowl (No. 15 Northern Illinois vs. No. 12 Florida State) on ESPN.


The Australian Open
, tennis’ first Grand Slam of the year, will begin Sunday, Jan. 13, at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN2, with daily, extensive coverage totaling more than xx hours and continuing through the women’s (Saturday, Jan. 26, at 3 a.m.) and men’s (Sunday, Jan. 27, at 3 a.m.) finals.


ESPN’s 14-game schedule in January will include a special Martin Luther King, Jr. Day afternoon game – Indiana  at Memphis, home of the National Civil Rights Museum, Monday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m.

ABC will televise a doubleheader on Sunday, Jan. 27, including an Eastern Conference Finals rematch – Miami at Boston at 1 p.m. and Oklahoma City visiting the LA Lakers at 3:30 p.m.



The X Games, the premier winter action sports event in the world, will be held January 24-27, from Aspen, Colo.  The annual event features athletes from across the globe competing for medals and prize money in the following sports: Skiing, Snowboard and Snowmobile.  All Winter X Games competitions will take place at the resort’s Buttermilk Mountain. Winter X Games 17 will air live nightly on ESPN.

  • The month’s 19-game schedule on ESPN2 and ESPNU will include tripleheaders on ESPNU Sunday, Jan. 6 and 13 and on ESPN2 Sunday, Jan. 20.  .
