espnW Reveals 2016 IMPACT25 List including Simone Biles, Hillary Clinton, Leslie Jones, Katie Ledecky, Claressa Shields and USA Gymnastics’ “The Final Five”
espnW has released its 2016 IMPACT25 list, a who’s who of 25 athletes and influencers who have made the biggest difference for women in sports this year. The top honor – Woman of the Year – will be announced Tuesday, Dec. 13, on SportsCenter: Coast to Coast (11 a.m. – 1 p.m., ESPN) with an exclusive interview by Cari Champion.
This week, espnW and U.S. Department of State launched the fifth year of the Global Sports Mentoring Program (GSMP), with 16 emerging female leaders from around the world kicking off a four-week mentorship in the United States with top American female executives from some of the most influential organizations in sports and business.
ESPN has signed the talented espnW writer and versatile ESPN Radio host Sarah Spain to a multiyear extension. Spain will continue in her role as a featured reporter and columnist for espnW on multiple ESPN platforms including espnW.com and ESPN TV and will co-host a new national weeknight ESPN Radio show with Israel Gutierrez, Izzy and Spain, beginning Monday, Sept. 26, from 9 – 11 p.m. ET.
espnW will again bring together sports industry leaders and top female athletes for the seventh annual espnW: Women + Sports Summit presented by Toyota from October 13-15, at the Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, Calif. The two-day conference will include panels, keynotes, work sessions, presentations and activities geared towards advancing the agenda of women in sports and focused around the “Vision, Action, Impact” theme.
espnW has added distinct, versatile voices Kavitha Davidson and Katie Barnes to its deep and experienced roster. Davidson will serve as a writer for espnW and will also contribute to ESPN The Magazine and ESPN.com, and will be based in New York. Barnes joins espnW as a Bristol-based writer/reporter.
