espnW has teamed with Marvel Comics to create “super” takes on the 2015 “IMPACT25” list, which recognizes athletes and influencers who have made the biggest mark on women in sports this year – 24 nominees, plus The espnW Woman of the Year. A collection of Marvel artists will utilize their various creative styles to highlight the special talents of the honorees and create a super version of each.
ESPN today announced that Laura Gentile has been promoted to Senior Vice President, espnW and Women’s Initiatives. Gentile’s leadership has been central in building the espnW business over the past five years and, as a result, she will take on a broader role focused on expanding ESPN’s presence in the lives of the many women who love sports. Gentile is the founder of espnW, which launched in Dec. 2010 as a blog. espnW is now a multimedia business encompassing digital, social, television, films and events such as The espnW: Women + Sports Summit.

Last night at the sixth annual The espnW: Women + Sports Summit presented by Toyota, espnW and Toyota announced the third class of “Everyday Heroes,” an award that celebrates individuals making a difference for women and girls in their local communities through sports. Grants in the amount of $10,000 are provided to the organizations honored.
Yesterday, the EY Women Athletes Business Network and espnW released a new report that analyzes how sport primes women for leadership while boosting career opportunities and earning power. The report also highlights the “virtuous cycle” that results from female athletes winning medals in the Olympics and provides four key steps that both business and political leaders can take to support the role of sport in advancing more female leaders globally.
