Soccer on ESPN Platforms: Major League Soccer Matches on Friday and Saturday Celebrate Cinco de Mayo

ESPN platforms – ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPN Deportes – will carry 18 live matches beginning Friday, May 4, at 11 p.m. ET, with ESPN Deportes’ first exclusive Major League Soccer telecast featuring Chivas USA vs. Chicago Fire, and concluding Monday, May 7, with the Premier League relegation contest – Blackburn Rovers vs. Wigan Athletic – at 2:55 p.m. on ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPN Deportes.  Highlights:

  • MLS:  Richard Mendez (play-by-play), analyst Tato Noriega and sideline reporter Monica Gonzalez will call ESPN Deportes’ Chivas USA vs. Chicago Fire match, part of the network’s Cinco de Mayo programming on Friday.
  • On Saturday at 8 p.m., ESPN, ESPN3 and ESPN Deportes will combine to present the rivalry between the Los Angeles Galaxy and New York Red Bulls, the top-two marquee franchises in the league, with Adrian Healey (play-by-play), Taylor Twellman (analyst), and Gonzalez providing English-language commentary.  Studio analyst Alexi Lalas will be on-site at the Home Depot Center for studio segments.
  • Premier League:  Arsenal, which hopes to earn a top-four finish and secure a European league spot, will host Norwich City on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. (ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPN Deportes).
  • Serie A:  ESPN3 will carry six Serie A matches including the Milan derby between Inter Milan and defending champion AC Milan on Sunday at 2:40 p.m.
