ESPN Presents the New Year’s Six

ESPN concludes 2015 and rings in 2016 with the exclusive presentation of the New Year’s Six, highlighted by the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Capital One Orange Bowl featuring No. 4 Oklahoma vs. No. 1 Clemson (4 p.m. ET) and the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic showcasing No. 3 Michigan State vs. No. 2 Alabama (8 p.m.) on New Year’s Eve.  The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl (12 p.m.) will precede the semifinals on New Year’s Eve and the BattleFrog Fiesta Bowl (1 p.m.), Rose Bowl Game Presented by Northwestern Mutual (5 p.m.) and the Allstate Sugar Bowl (8:30 p.m.) will be played on New Year’s Day.

ESPN and ESPN Deportes will televise all six games and ESPNEWS will have the trophy presentations, which will be available on WatchESPN.  ESPN Radio will broadcast the games and the audio is available through the ESPN Radio app. SEC Network will air the Finebaum Film Room: Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic and ESPN3 will provide enhanced coverage for the semifinals.

ESPN Deportes to be Simulcast on ESPN2

In addition to ESPN Deportes televising the entire New Year’s Six, new this year, the network’s telecast for the two College Football Playoff semifinals on New Year’s Eve will be simulcast on ESPN2, making the Spanish-language feed widely available in the United States.

College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Capital One Orange Bowl
No. 4 Oklahoma vs. No. 1 Clemson on New Year’s Eve at 4 p.m.

  • Commentators: Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge and Holly Rowe will call the game on ESPN, with Eduardo Varela and Pablo Viruega on ESPN Deportes/ESPN2 and Bill Rosinski, David Norrie, and Joe Schad on ESPN Radio. Rules expert Bill LeMonnier will be available.
  • Special ESPN2 Presentation: ESPN2 will simulcast ESPN Deportes’ telecast, making the Spanish-language presentation widely available in the United States.
  • Enhanced Views: ESPN3 will offer enhanced coverage, featuring both Oklahoma and Clemson’s radio broadcasts accompanying the ESPN telecast, and the continuous spider cam feed. Additionally, ESPNEWS and ESPN3 will carry the trophy presentation.
  • Pylon Technology: ESPN will use pylon camera technology for the game, utilizing 16 cameras to look down at the goal line and sidelines at all corners of the field.
  • Social Media: @ESPNCFB, @CollegeGameDay, and @SportsCenter will offer additional content from in and around the stadium, including views from the sidelines, vines and behind-the-scenes access.

College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic
No. 3 Michigan State vs. No. 2 Alabama on New Year’s Eve at 8 p.m.

  • Commentators: Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, Heather Cox, and Tom Rinaldi will call the game on ESPN, with Kenneth Garay and Alex Pombo on ESPN Deportes/ESPN2 and Brad Sham, Danny Kanell, and Ian Fitzsimmons on ESPN Radio. Rules expert Dave Cutaia will be available.
  • Special ESPN2 Presentation: ESPN2 will simulcast ESPN Deportes’ telecast, making the Spanish-language presentation widely available in the United States.
  • Enhanced Views: ESPN3 will offer enhanced coverage, featuring both Michigan State and Alabama’s radio broadcasts accompanying the ESPN telecast and the continuous spider cam feed. Additionally, ESPNEWS and ESPN3 will carry the trophy presentation.
  • SEC Network: Finebaum Film Room: Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic will air on SEC Network during the game, allowing viewers to watch the game along with Paul Finebaum and his in-studio guests – SEC Network analysts Greg McElroy and Booger McFarland, along with former Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel.   • Commentators: Dave Pasch, Brian Griese, and Tom Luginbill will call the game on ESPN, with Jerry Olaya and Robert Abramowitz on ESPN Deportes and Dave Flemming, Mike Bellotti, and Allison Williams on ESPN Radio. Rules expert Doug Rhoads will be available.
  • ESPN3 and ESPNEWS: The spider cam feed will be available throughout the game on ESPN3 and the trophy presentation following the game on will be carried on ESPNEWS and ESPN3.

BattleFrog Fiesta Bowl
No. 8 Notre Dame vs. No. 7 Ohio State on New Year’s Day at 1 p.m.

  • Commentators: Sean McDonough, Chris Spielman, Todd McShay will call the game on ESPN, with Jerry Olaya and Robert Abramonwitz on ESPN Deportes and Adam Amin, Kelly Stouffer, and Olivia Harlan on ESPN Radio. Rules expert Doug Rhoads will be available.

No. 6 Stanford vs. No. 5 Iowa on New Year’s Day at 5 p.m.

ESPN’s Coverage Surrounding the New Year’s Six

ESPN’s exclusive telecast of the New Year’s Six brings around-the-clock studio coverage, which began today, Monday, Dec. 28, from sets at the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Capital One Orange Bowl and the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic. The two sets, located at South Beach in Miami and from inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, will anchor the network’s coverage, which also includes reporting from the Peach Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, the Rose Bowl Game and Sugar Bowl.

Additional Highlights:

  • College GameDay Built by The Home Depot will be live from South Beach on New Year’s Eve (9 a.m. – Noon ET).
  • SportsCenter will have a presence at all New Year’s Six games, while SEC Network will be onsite providing pre- and post-game coverage from the Cotton Bowl.
  • On ESPN Radio, Ryen Russillo, Trevor Matich and Brad Edwards will host Mike & Mike (6 a.m. – 10 a.m.), followed by Dari Nowkhah and Mel Kiper, Jr. hosting Dari & Mel (10 a.m. – noon) on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day leading into New Year’s Six games each day.
