Lifetime Longhorn Jordan Shipley Records Song for Longhorn Network’s “BEVO Home for the Holidays” Program

On Sunday, Dec. 25, Longhorn Network returns its Christmas programming tradition of providing a BEVO backdrop for family gatherings with an accompaniment of Texas-holiday tunes. This year’s BEVO Home for the Holidays program receives an extra dose of Longhorn cheer with Lifetime Longhorn Jordan Shipley singing original song “My Baby Wants BEVO for Christmas” making its debut in both marketing promotions (video) and the show itself.

LHN commissioned Jordan and his singer-songwriter wife Sunny to create the perfect musical salute for BEVO XV this holiday season.

“Jordan is Texas – as a great former UT wide receiver and professional outdoorsman, he’s also been known to pick up the guitar and sing as well,” said Jill Husak, LHN director of marketing on Shipley’s involvement this year. “We previously featured him performing in a LHN All the Live Long Day commercial. We thought Jordan was the perfect person to create and sing an original song for Longhorn Nation’s beloved mascot this holiday season.”

BEVO Home for the Holidays airs without commercial interruption throughout the morning, Sunday, Dec. 25 beginning at 8 a.m. CT on Longhorn Network. Using Go Pros, a golf cart and cinematic cameras LHN captures unique pasture scenes of BEVO XV at home as he is fed, groomed by his owners and plays with Two Spot and other bovine friends on the ranch, all set to Texas-themed Holiday music and Shipley’s new song.

“Everything’s bigger in Texas and BEVO Home for the Holidays is the Texas-sized version of the TV yulelog, bringing a picturesque setting in a Slow TV format that delights without distracting,” said Stacie McCollum, ESPN college networks. “BEVO XV has earned a special place in Texas fans’ hearts since he was introduced this fall and many fans see UT and the longhorn as an extension of their family. We consider it an honor to bring BEVO to their home for the holidays.”

2016 marks the third year, LHN has aired a “slow TV” production (a relatively new genre of television coverage that captures an ordinary event in its typical length; the name is derived from the lengthy nature of the telecast and natural slow pace of the show) of BEVO on Christmas Day.

This year is the first time BEVO XV has been featured in the holiday show and ends a season long celebration of the new mascot and the 100th Anniversary of BEVO which included the first televised feature on BEVO XV, three animated marketing vignettes, a local Austin school BEVO art project and a larger than life anniversary card for the mascot.
