2017 International Champions Cup on ESPN

ESPN, ESPN Deportes, ESPN Deportes Radio, ESPNU and ESPNEWS will combine to present the 2017 International Champions Cup (ICC) July 18-30. The series of 19 international club soccer matches will be played in the United States, Singapore and China over a two-week period. The ICC begins Tuesday, July 18 with Italian Serie A club AC Milan vs. German Bundesliga’s Borussia Dortmund, live from Guangzhou, China, at 7:15 a.m. ET (ESPNU, ESPN Deportes, ESPN Deportes Radio and the ESPN App).

The ICC features highly-anticipated matchups, including a ‘Manchester Derby’ in Houston (July 20), a Special ‘El Clásico’ Miami (July 29) and a meeting of the top two teams in the Italian Serie A – Juventus vs. AS Roma in Foxborough, Mass. (July 30).

Play-by-play voices Jon Champion (English) and Fernando Palomo (Spanish) lead the ESPN commentator teams that will call these international pre-season matches between championship-winning clubs.

Other English-language play-by-play commentators include Mark Donaldson, Adrian Healey, Derek Rae and Jonathan Yardley, along with match analysts Craig Burley, Kasey Keller, Janusz Michallik, Paul Mariner, Steve Nicol, Stewart Robson and Taylor Twellman.

ESPN Deportes commentators include Spanish-language play-by-play voices Jorge Pietrasanta, Ricardo Ortiz, Richard Méndez, Robert Sierra, Roger Valdivieso, Jorge Perez Navarro, Marcelo Masanti and Jorge Perez Navarro, and analysts Hugo Sánchez, Zague, Andrés Agulla, Tato Noriega, Barak Fever, Alex Pareja, Elmer Polanco and Leo Vega.  

ESPN Deportes Radio play-by-play will be headlined by Jorge Ramos, alongside Dionisio Estrada, Marcelo Masanti, Omar Salazar and Kenneth Garay. The analysts include Hernán Pereyra, Leo Vega, Elmer Polanco, José del Valle, Ricardo Mayorga, Diego Cora and Leo Vega.

ESPN FC to Air on ESPN2 During the 2017 ICC

On weekdays throughout the ICC tournament (July 17 -28), ESPN FC, the daily soccer news highlights, analysis and information program, will air at 5:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2 (except on Thursday, July 20). The program will re-air on ESPNEWS at 6 p.m., its regular air time and network.

On Saturday, July 29, ESPN will air a one-hour special edition of ESPN FC previewing the Barcelona-Real Madrid El Clásico game live from the Hard Rock Stadium at 5 p.m.

Six Manchester United Pre-season Matches on ESPN Networks

Manchester United will kick off a slate of six preseason matches on ESPN networks with a pre-ICC international friendly match vs. Major League Soccer’s LA Galaxy on Saturday, July 15, at 10 p.m., live from the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif., on ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and streamed live on the ESPN App. The match will be the first for Belgium National Team star and former Everton FC striker Romelu Lukaku in a Manchester United shirt.

Two days later (Monday, July 17), Lukaku and Manchester United will face MLS’s Real Salt Lake at 10 p.m. on ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and the ESPN App. Additionally, Manchester United is playing in the International Champions Cup in the U.S. against Manchester City (July 20, Houston), Real Madrid (July 23, Santa Clara, CA) and Barcelona (July 26, Landover, MD).

Manchester United’s ESPN appearances conclude Wednesday, August 2, vs. Italian Serie A club U.C. Sampdoria, from Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and streamed live on the ESPN App.

ESPN FC’s Alexis Nunes conducted an exclusive interview this week with Lukaku about his move to Manchester United. Lukaku and his longtime friend and now teammate Paul Pogba also discussed their friendship in a one-on-one interview, exclusive to ESPN FC.

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Juventus

On Aug. 5, Tottenham Hotspur vs. Juventus will be live from Wembley Stadium in London on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and the ESPN App at 12:25 p.m. The match will conclude ESPN’s multimedia coverage of 23 international club pre-season matches this summer.
