Beta Research Corporation released their 2017 Brand Identity of Basic Cable/Broadcast Networks study, and ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNEWS earned high marks in several brand attributes out of the 67 networks evaluated. In the study, ESPN was ranked No. 1 (tie) basic cable network among all male viewers as one of their favorite channels. ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNEWS also ranked first, third and fourth, respectively, as one of their favorite channels among men 25-54 and 18-49. Furthermore, ESPN or ESPN2 was rated higher than any other sports network in several categories, including informative, high quality, distinctive and valuable.

ESPN will be collaborating with popular hip-hop producer Mike WiLL Made-It for the first ever “NBA on ESPN Remix,” an event featuring a live viewing party and unique second screen experience for NBA fans. The concert will run concurrently with the ESPN telecast of the Houston Rockets vs. Golden State Warriors matchup on Friday, March 31, at 7:30 p.m. PT/10:30 p.m. ET. The game and the concert will be presented in a two-box screen experience on WatchESPN and the ESPN App, so fans can simultaneously view the live stream and listen to Mike WiLL Made-It’s performance that will be coordinated to the game action. The NBA game and concert collaboration is the first of its kind for ESPN.

For the 17th consecutive year, operators named ESPN the no. 1 network with the most average perceived value among all networks measured in Beta Research Corp’s annual Cable Operator Evaluation Study. ESPN was also ranked the no. 1 most important network in their cable systems for the 13th straight year – and 16 of the past 17 years – with 97 percent of operators describing the network as “very important” for subscriber retention and acquisition.
