The Aug. 16 edition of ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball presented by Taco Bell – the Kansas City Royals defeated the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 4-3 in an extra innings thriller – generated the best rating ever for a regular-season Major League Baseball telecast on ESPN in the Kansas City market. According to Nielsen, the telecast delivered a 19.8 rating, which also makes it the highest-rated, regular-season pro sports or college sports game telecast on ESPN in the Kansas City market.
ESPN will televise three prime-time Pittsburgh Pirates games from PNC Park this week, beginning with Monday Night Baseball presented by USAA – Chicago Cubs at Pirates – tonight at 7 p.m. ET. The team of Dave O’Brien and analysts Aaron Boone and Dallas Braden will provide commentary.
The Aug. 2 edition of ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball presented by Taco Bell – the New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals 5-2 – delivered a 1.7 overnight rating, according to Nielsen. This is up six percent from a 1.6 for last year’s comparable game (L.A. Dodgers-San Francisco Giants).
