NBA Playoffs Continue on ABC & ESPN with Seven Games This Weekend

The 2017 NBA Playoffs continue on ESPN and ABC beginning Friday, April 21 with a tripleheader across ESPN and ESPN2.  At 7 p.m. ET, Eastern Conference No.1 seed Boston Celtics and Isaiah Thomas visit No. 8 seed Chicago Bulls and Jimmy Butler for Game 3 on ESPN.  Mark Jones, Hall of Famer and analyst Hubie Brown and reporter Adam Schefter will call the action.  At 9:30 p.m. on ESPN, No. 3 seed Houston Rockets and James Harden will visit No. 6 seed Oklahoma City Thunder and Russell Westbrook for Game 3 of their Western Conference series.  Mike Breen, analysts Jeff Van Gundy, Mark Jackson and reporter Lisa Salters will be on the call (before travelling with the teams to Houston for Sunday’s Game 4).  At 10 p.m. on ESPN2, No. 4 seed LA Clippers and Blake Griffin visit No. 5 seed Utah Jazz and Gordon Hayward for Game 3 with Adam Amin, analyst P.J. Carlesimo and reporter Tom Rinaldi providing commentary.

The Playoffs continue on ESPN with a Saturday night Western Conference doubleheader. At 8 p.m., No. 2 seed San Antonio Spurs and Kawhi Leonard visit No. 7 seed Memphis Grizzlies and Mike Conley for Game 4.  Ryan Ruocco, analyst Doris Burke and reporter Cassidy Hubbarth will be the broadcast trio for the game. At 10:30 p.m., No. 1 seed Golden State Warriors and Stephen Curry will visit No. 8 seed Portland Trail Blazers and Damian Lillard for Game 3. Dave Pasch, Doug Collins, J.A. Adande will call the action.

The action moves to ABC on Sunday for an doubleheader tipped off by defending NBA Champion / No. 2 seed Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James visiting No. 7 seed Indiana Pacers and Paul George for Game 4 of their series at 1 p.m.  Jones, Brown and reporter Israel Gutierrez will be on the call.  At 3:30 p.m., Breen, Van Gundy, Jackson and Salters will be in Oklahoma City to call Game 4 of the Rockets-Thunder series at 3:30 p.m.

NBA Countdown will precede Saturday’s doubleheader at 7 p.m. (ESPN) and Sunday’s doubleheader at 12:30 p.m. (ABC). Host Michelle Beadle will be joined by analysts Jalen Rose and Chauncey Billups.

The Jump— ESPN’s daily NBA studio show hosted by Rachel Nichols— airs weekdays at 3 p.m. on ESPN with NBA analysts/insiders. Friday’s guests include comedy duo Desus Nice and The Kid Mero.

New York Mets Host Washington Nationals on Sunday Night Baseball; Baseball Tonight: Sunday Night Countdown from Citi Field

This weekend on ESPN’s exclusive, full-national Sunday Night Baseball presented by Taco Bell the New York Mets and Yoenis Cespedes host the Washington Nationals and Bryce Harper. Dan Shulman will call the game with analysts Jessica Mendoza and Aaron Boone and reporter Buster Olney beginning at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. Karl Ravech, Mark Teixeira and Tim Kurkjian will lead into the coverage on Baseball Tonight: Sunday Night Countdown presented by Chevrolet from Citi Field at 7 p.m. on ESPN.

Jon Sciambi and Chris Singleton will call Sunday’s game on ESPN Radio. Shulman will join Singleton when the two teams meet the day before with coverage starting at 3 p.m. on ESPN Radio.

On April 19’s Wednesday Night Baseball presented by Hankook Tire the Cleveland Indians and Francisco Lindor take on the Minnesota Twins and Brian Dozier. Jon Sciambi, Rick Sutcliffe and Doug Glanville will call the full national telecast at 8 p.m. on ESPN. Baseball Tonight will lead into the game at 7 p.m. on ESPN with Ravech, Raul Ibanez and Kurkjian. Ibanez and Kurkjian return at midnight on ESPN2 with host Adnan Virk to update on all the action from around the league.

On April 24, The Pittsburgh Pirates and Andrew McCutchen host the Chicago Cubs and Anthony Rizzo on Monday Night Baseball presented by USAA. Karl Ravech will have the call with analysts Eduardo Perez and Dallas Braden at 7 p.m. on ESPN. The telecast will be blacked out in the Chicago market. Karl Ravech will host Baseball Tonight at 10 p.m. on ESPN with Boone and Kurkjian. Baseball Tonight will return at midnight on ESPN2 to recap the full day.

ESPN’s new original series We The Fans, which examines what it means to be a true “diehard” sports fan, debuted last week on ESPN and will continue on Tuesday, April 18, with the third and fourth episodes. The multi-platform, eight-episode series takes a look at the lives of Chicago Bears 2016 season ticket holders and follows the ups and downs of the people whose hearts are always with their team.

ESPN to Cover New England Patriots Visit to the White House

On Wednesday, April 19, SportsCenter will provide live coverage of the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots visit to the White House. Reporters Jason Reid and Mike Reiss will be in Washington D.C., with live updates beginning at 7 a.m. ET and continuing throughout the day. Coverage will include the ceremony which is slated to begin in the early afternoon, (the exact time is still to be determined) as well as interviews with Patriots players who are attending and some who have chosen not to attend. This is the first championship winning team to visit the White House since President Donald Trump took office.

After Indiana University football coach Kevin Wilson lost his job Dec. 1, reports immediately surfaced that former players’ medical care had been neglected when they were injured. Over a three-month investigation, Outside the Lines uncovered other problems beyond football that included athletic trainers, coaches and team doctors. Paula Lavigne reports for Outside the Lines on Sunday, April 23, at 9 a.m. ET on ESPN.

Sunday’s SC Featured will tell the story of former placekicker Bjorn Nittmo, who chased his NFL dream for more than a decade. A head injury in a preseason game when he was with the Tampa Bay Bucs left Nittmo so shattered that he walked out on his wife and four children. Years later, as Chris Connelly reports, he continues to drop in, unannounced and unkempt, before taking off again. “Finding Bjorn” will debut in the 10 a.m. ET edition of SportsCenter on Sunday, April 23, and will re-air in other editions of the program throughout the day.

UEFA Champions League on ESPN Deportes continues with the second leg of a home-and-away quarterfinal series Tuesday, April 18, with Leicester City vs. Atletico Madrid at 2:30 p.m. ET, and on Wednesday, April 19, Real Madrid, the 11-time and current defending champions, will host Bayern Munich at 2:30 p.m.

MLS Soccer Sunday on ESPN and ESPN Deportes will feature five-time Major League Soccer champions LA Galaxy, led by Mexican star Giovani dos Santos, vs. current MLS Cup winners Seattle Sounders, led by U.S. Men’s National Team star Clint Dempsey April 23 at 4 p.m. Adrian Healey (play-by-play), analyst Taylor Twellman and sideline reporter Julie Stewart-Binks will handle English-language commentaries for the match. ESPNU All Access will debut two shows Wednesday, April 19—All Access: UNC Lacrosse (6 p.m. ET), followed by All Access: Duke Lacrosse (6:30 p.m.)—on ESPNU.  Paul Carcaterra and Quint Kessenich will give viewers a behind-the-scenes look into both of these historic lacrosse programs, from the field and locker room to workouts and meals. This week’s lacrosse schedule includes several matchups across ESPNU, ESPNEWS, ESPN3 and ACC Network Extra. A men’s doubleheader on ESPNU Saturday, April 22, features No. 16 North Carolina facing No. 6 Notre Dame (noon), followed by Michigan taking on No. 8 Johns Hopkins (2 p.m.).
