The 2017 NBA Playoffs continue Thursday, May 11 with the San Antonio Spurs and Kawhi Leonard at the Houston Rockets and James Harden for Game 6 at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. Mike Breen and analysts Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson and reporter Doris Burke will provide commentary.

On Friday, May 12, the Boston Celtics and Isaiah Thomas visit the Washington Wizards and John Wall for Game 6 at 8 p.m. on ESPN with Mark Jones, Hall of Famer and analyst Hubie Brown and reporter Lisa Salters on the call.

NBA Countdown charged by Mountain Dew will precede both Thursday and Friday games with one-hour episodes hosted by Michelle Beadle with analysts Jalen Rose and Chauncey Billups.

On Sunday, May 14, ABC will televise either Game 7 of the Rockets-Spurs series or Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals at 3:30 p.m. NBA Countdown presented by Straight Talk Wireless will precede the game at 3 p.m. with Beadle, Rose and Billups.

The Jump presented by La Quinta— ESPN’s daily NBA studio show hosted by Rachel Nichols— airs weekdays at 3 p.m. on ESPN with NBA analysts/insiders. This week’s guests include NFL player Victor Cruz (Tuesday), Basketball Hall of Famer Joe Dumars (Tuesday) and Denver Nuggets player Mike Miller (Wed. through Fri.).

ESPN2 will televise the NBA Draft Combine powered by Under Armour from 3-7 p.m. ET, on Thursday, and Friday (May 11-12) from the Quest Multisport Complex in Chicago. ESPN2 telecasts will include whip-around coverage from strength and agility drills and the four scheduled five-on-five scrimmages throughout Thursday and Friday. Simultaneously, ESPN3 will carry six surround feeds (no-step vertical leap, maximum vertical leap, pro lane agility, 3/4 court sprint, pro lane shuttle drill and scrimmages) for the NBA Combine from 3-7 p.m. both days.

Forward/center Frank Kaminsky of the Charlotte Hornets will serve as a guest analyst for the ESPN2 telecasts. He will join the main crew, led by Rece Davis, who will serve as both host and play-by-play commentator during the coverage. Davis will be joined by ESPN basketball analysts Jay Williams, Fran Fraschilla and Tom Penn. Jeff Goodman will serve as on-site reporter.

New York Yankees host Houston Astros on Derek Jeter Night on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball

This weekend on ESPN’s exclusive, full-national Sunday Night Baseball presented by Taco Bell, the New York Yankees and Aaron Judge host the Houston Astros and Jose Altuve at Yankee Stadium at a special time of 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. Dan Shulman will have the call with analysts Jessica Mendoza and Aaron Boone and reporter Buster Olney for Derek Jeter Night where the Yankees and its fans will celebrate the former star before the game by retiring his iconic No. 2 jersey and unveiling his Monument Park plaque. Karl Ravech, former Yankee Mark Teixeira and Tim Kurkjian will be on the field for Baseball Tonight: Sunday Night Countdown presented by Chevrolet at 6:30 p.m. for the live ceremony.

SportsCenter contributor Sarina Morales will begin coverage from Yankee Stadium Sunday morning followed by a SportsCenter Special hosted by Zubin Mehenti on Jeter’s career at 3 p.m. on ESPN. Complete ESPN coverage details leading up to Derek Jeter Night and the number retirement ceremony will be announced later this week.

Jon Sciambi and Chris Singleton will call Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN Radio. They will also be in the booth when the two teams meet Saturday with coverage starting at 12:30 p.m. on ESPN Radio.

On May 10, the St. Louis Cardinals and Dexter Fowler face the Miami Marlins and Giancarlo Stanton on ESPN’s Wednesday Night Baseball presented by Hankook Tire. Jon Sciambi, Rick Sutcliffe and Eduardo Pérez will be in the booth for the 7 p.m. game on ESPN. The telecast will be blacked out in the St. Louis market.

ESPN’s Global Game series, which celebrates various cultural influences on the game of baseball, returns for the 2017 season Monday, May 15, with a special episode of Monday Night Baseball presented by USAA: The Marlins host the Astros at 7 p.m. on ESPN in this Global Game focusing on Puerto Rico. Complete details on the Global Game will be announced later this week. Ravech will call the full national telecast with Pérez and Pedro Gomez.

MLB Intentional Talk will air Monday-Wednesday this week on ESPN2 from 4-5 p.m. with veteran sports broadcaster Chris Rose and 2004 World Series Champion Kevin Millar.

2017 NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship Begins Saturday on ESPN

ESPN will provide exclusive coverage of the NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship Presented by Northwestern Mutual, beginning with the first round on Saturday, May 13, and Sunday May 14, at noon ET from the top eight campus host sites. All first-round games will air on ESPNU.

On Saturday, Towson faces No. 7-seed Penn State (noon), Duke faces No. 6 John Hopkins (2:30 p.m.), Air Force plays No. 5 Denver (5 p.m.), and reigning champion North Carolina meets No. 8 Albany (7:30 p.m.). Sunday’s games feature BIG EAST Champion Marquette facing No. 4 Notre Dame (noon), winner of Bryant/Monmouth playing top-seeded Maryland (2:30 p.m.), Loyola (Md.) taking on No. 3 Ohio State (5 p.m.), and Yale taking on No. 2 Syracuse (7:30 p.m.).

#MAYhem: College Softball’s Biggest Month Begins with More than 60 Conference Tournament Games, 11 Championship Games on ESPN’s Networks

College softball #MAYhem begins on ESPN’s networks with more than 60 conference tournament games in four days (May 10-13), including 11 conference championship games, leading into the NCAA Softball Championship Selection Special Presented by Capital One on Sunday, May 14, on ESPN2 (10 p.m. ET).

 Conference Championships on ESPN’s Networks
ESPN networks will have conference championship games from the American, ASUN, ACC, Big South, Horizon, MAC, Missouri Valley, SEC, Southern, Southland, and Sun Belt tournaments. ESPN will televise the American Conference (noon), ACC (2 p.m.) and SEC (8 p.m.) on Saturday, May 13.  That same day, ESPN3 streams the Big South (noon), Horizon League (1 p.m.), MAC (1 p.m.), Southern (1 p.m.), Missouri Valley (2 p.m.), ASUN (2 p.m.), and Sun Belt (6 p.m.).

The Big South (2:30 p.m.), Horizon League (3:30 p.m.), MAC (3:30 p.m.), Southern (3:30 p.m.) and ASUN (4:30 p.m.) could also all play a second championship game on Saturday, which are currently deemed “if necessary.” The Southland tournament could conclude on Friday, May 12, (4 p.m.) on ESPN3, with an “if necessary” game scheduled for Saturday (noon).

 Soccer: UEFA Champions League Semifinals – The Madrid Derby; Two MLS Matches and more

ESPN Deportes will televise the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals between rival Madrid teams – Atlético Madrid vs.11-time European champions Real Madrid – on Wednesday, May 10, live from Vicente Calderón Stadium in the Spanish capital. Real Madrid is the current UEFA Champions League defending champions having won the trophy last year in a shootout over Atlético Madrid. The matchup features some of the top stars in international football: Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo Vieira (Real Madrid); Antoine Griezmann, Diego Godin (Atlético Madrid).

ESPN networks will televise two marquee Major League Soccer matches this weekend:

  • 2014 FIFA World Cup champion Bastian Schweinsteiger and Chicago Fire host 2016 MLS Cup champions Seattle Sounders on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes on Saturday at 9 p.m. U.S. Men’s National Team players Clint Dempsey and Jordan Morris, and Uruguayan midfielder Nicolás Lodeiro are expected to play for the Sounders. Adrian Healey (play-by-play), analyst Taylor Twellman and sideline reporter Julie Stewart-Binks will handle English-language commentary for the match.
  • On Sunday at 4 p.m., ESPN and ESPN Deportes will combine to present U.S. National Team midfielder Darlington Nagbe and the Portland Timbers hosting Atlanta United, led by Trinidad and Tobago National Team forward Kenwyne Jones. Commentators Steve Cangialosi and Alejandro Moreno will call the match.

WSL Surfing Stop #3 Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach

On Saturday, May 13, World of X Games on ABC will air World Surf League Surfing Stop #3 at Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach at 2:30 p.m. ET. Bells Beach is hallowed ground having been home to some of pro surfing’s most historic battles, and this year’s was among the best. With a dozen performers ready to pounce on finals day, things got interesting in a hurry, and the twists and turns just kept coming. It all equated to a thrilling show, recapped in this World of X Games highlight reel.

Grand Prix of Indianapolis Airs Saturday on ABC

Indianapolis Motor Speedway begins three consecutive weekends of Verizon IndyCar Series action on Saturday, May 13, with the Grand Prix of Indianapolis. With the telecast presented by Sea-Doo, the stars of the series will compete on the iconic speedway’s infield road course with the race airing live on ABC at 3:30 p.m. ET. Anchor Allen Bestwick will be joined by analysts Scott Goodyear and Eddie Cheever, with pit reporters Jon BeekhuisRick DeBruhl and Dr. Jerry Punch. ABC and ESPN3 will air Indianapolis 500 qualifying May 20-21, with the 101st running of the Indy 500 Sunday, May 28, on ABC.

 


Athletes Surprise Moms with Letters of Love on SC Featured All Week

For Mother’s Day, the weekly SC Featured segment on SportsCenter will highlight five well-known athletes surprising their moms with letters of love. The athletes include Bryce Harper, Laurie Hernandez, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Russell Wilson and J.J. Watt. The full feature will premier in the 10 a.m. ET edition of SportsCenter on Sunday, May 14. In addition, the multiplatform presentation will debut one athlete per day on SportsCenter beginning Tuesday, and a podcast hosted by Jen Lada will post Sunday morning. The videos will be available digitally on ESPN.com, the ESPN App and WatchESPN, and photos will appear on ESPN.com later this week and in the issue of ESPN The Magazine that hits newsstands May 19.

Sometimes referred to as golf’s “Fifth Major,” The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., annually has one of the strongest fields of golfers on the PGA TOUR. E:60 Debuts Weekly Show Sunday on ESPN with a Feature on Dallas Cowboys Star Quarterback Dak Prescott, an Investigative Report on the Syrian National Soccer Team, and More

E:60, ESPN’s award-winning news magazine program, will begin a new era on Sunday, May 14, at 9 a.m. ET with the launch of its weekly Sunday morning edition. The new program marks the first time E:60 will air live and on a year-round basis in a regular timeslot. The debut program will include:

  • In collaboration with Outside the Lines and ESPN The Magazine, a report from Steve Fainaru on the Syrian national soccer team. Following a seven-month investigation, the piece discusses how the ongoing civil war in Syria has affected the country’s bid to compete in the next World Cup, including forcing players and others involved in soccer to leave the country in fear and to choose sides. A companion written piece will appear on ESPN.com and in the next issue of ESPN The Magazine (on newsstands May 19).
  • For Mother’s Day—in an emotional, in-depth interview with E:60 host and reporter Jeremy Schaap, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott opens-up about his mother, Peggy Prescott, and her battle with cancer which took her life in 2013.
  • A short feature documenting artist Dan Gamache, who crafted the custom cleats that will be presented to Derek Jeter as a special gift from New York Yankees during his retirement ceremony this Sunday.
