Deidra Maddock

Vice President, Sports Marketing

Deidra Maddock is vice president, sports marketing at ESPN. In her role, she oversees both fan and brand marketing efforts across a variety of professional league content (NFL, NHL, USTA, Wimbledon, and others), ESPN-owned events (ESPYS, X Games) as well as fantasy sports efforts. She has contributed to numerous successful rights renewal and acquisition efforts including the most recent NBA agreement.

Maddock leads a team focused on developing and executing the fan communications strategies to build ESPN’s sports-centric brands while driving tune-in and consumption of the sports properties within her area of responsibility. Additionally, the group builds and maintains strong working relationships with each of the various sport leagues and governing bodies along with the internal programming, legal, research, business development and content groups assigned to each sport.  Her team is also responsible for designing the advertising sponsorship offerings and advising on packaging strategies to maximize cross-platform revenues driven by her sports properties.

Maddock joined ESPN in 2008 as a TV account executive, prior to transitioning into the company’s sports marketing team in 2012. Previously, she spent 11 years at different media companies, including Comcast, Hotelevision (now Hotel Networks), Discovery Channel and Ogilvy & Mather, in positions of progressing responsibility.

She also serves a key role in working closely with the senior vice president, sports marketing, in setting the overall strategy for the broader group and managing the team’s growth and development.  Maddock also leads ESPN’s “Consumer Marketing & Sales Working Moms” group, which represents, supports and empowers more than 70 working mothers from the company’s sales, marketing and research groups.

A resident of Long Island, N.Y., Maddock graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism and political science.
