Jack Obringer

Senior Coordinating Producer, Studio Production

In his role as senior coordinating producer, studio production, Jack Obringer is responsible for the 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. ET editions of SportsCenter, a role he assumed in August 2010 when SportsCenter began expansion onto ESPNEWS. He also oversees the SportsCenter Tease-Bump unit.

Additionally, Obringer had oversight of ESPN’s 2011 Veteran’s Day initiative, after being responsible for SportsCenter‘s Veteran’s Day coverage in 2009 and 2010.

Previously, from 2007 through April 2009, Obringer oversaw two NASCAR-related programs: NASCAR Countdown and NASCAR Now. Countdown is the pre-race show for all NASCAR race telecasts on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC, while Now is ESPN2’s daily news and information show. In April 2009 he added 6 p.m. SportsCenter responsibilities to NASCAR Now.

Obringer’s most recent duties with ESPN prior to assuming NASCAR responsibilities in 2007 were the 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. ET editions of SportsCenter, as well as NBA FastBreak, NBA Coast to Coast and NASCAR coverage on SportsCenter.

Obringer has been a senior coordinating producer since April 2005. Before that, he was a coordinating producer for 6 p.m. SportsCenter (February 2002-March 2005), for Monday Night Countdown during the 2001 NFL season, and for ESPNEWS from September 2000-June 2001.

Before joining ESPN, Obringer worked at WNDU-TV in South Bend, Ind., from August 1984-September 2000, ultimately as assistant news director.

Obringer earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in American studies from Notre Dame University.
