College Football Playoff Selection Show: Most-Viewed Four Hour CFP Selection Show Ever

The College Football Playoff Selection Show from Noon – 4 p.m. ET on December 3, was the most-viewed four-hour CFP Selection Show ever, and the show’s first hour gained a larger audience than the first hour of any four-hour Selection Show as ESPN exclusively unveiled the College Football Playoff and the New Year’s Six. The special was part of 14 hours of television coverage ESPN dedicated to Selection Day.

The audience for the four-hour show was 1,630,000 viewers, up 23% from the same time slot last year. The show’s first hour, which saw the four College Football Playoff teams announced, averaged 3,027,000 viewers, up 14% from last year. The show peaked from 12:30-12:45 p.m., when the CFP field was announced, with 3,371,000 viewers.

This year, the six shows* which CFP rankings were announced averaged 1,492,000 viewers, up 22% from the same six shows last year.
