Longhorn Network to Feature Alternate Viewing Option for 2017 Academy Sports + Outdoors Texas Bowl

Posted on

Keeping with the tradition of giving Texas fans a unique viewing option to cheer “Texas Fight” all night, Longhorn Network will feature an alternate feed for the 2017 Academy Sports + Outdoors Texas Bowl on Wednesday, Dec. 27. Highlighted by a high end zone camera with integrated statistics, the Longhorn Network Command Center will run concurrently with the traditional telecast of the showdown between Texas and Missouri at 9 p.m. ET.

Adam Amin, Dusty Dvoracek and Molly McGrath will have the call for the game airing on ESPN. UT’s flagship radio partner, 104.9 The Horn, will provide the radio call utilized on Longhorn Network Command Center.

“It’s important to give fans various options to watch their favorite team,” said Steve Ackels, ESPN Coordinating Producer.  “By integrating statistics and offering a different angle from the traditional telecast, the Longhorn Network Command Center provides viewers a multi-screen, multi-platform experience. It’s a one-stop shop for all things Texas at the Texas Bowl.”

In addition to the UT-centric in-game feed, Texas GameDay and Texas GameDay Final, Longhorn Network’s signature shows, will air at 7 p.m., halftime, and at the conclusion of the Texas Bowl. Host Lowell Galindo and Lifetime Longhorns Ricky Williams, Cory Redding and Emmanuel Acho will put a cap on a 2017 season that saw UT boast one of the nation’s top defensive units and take home the 2017 Ray Guy Award (Michael Dickson), two consensus first team All-American nods (Dickson, DeShon Elliott) and five All-Big 12 honors.

As always, in addition to enjoying the 2017 Academy Sports + Outdoors Texas Bowl and the Longhorn Network Command Center on TV, fans can stream the action live on the ESPN App.
