ESPN’s First Take Earns Most-Viewed February Ever, Up 16% Overall

Females, P25-54 and Young Men (18-34) Demos all up over 2017

ESPN’s First Take earned its most-viewed February ever, across multiple demos including viewers P2+, M18-49, M25-29, P18-34 and P18-49. The month also notched a 16% overall audience gain over the previous year, averaging 499,000 viewers (P2+, Nielsen’s February 2018: January 29 – February 25, Nielsen’s February 2017: January 30 – February 26).

In addition, First Take grew its audience across three key demos (vs. 2017):

  • Females (F2+), up 34%;
  • P25-34, up 9%;
  • Young men (M18-34), up 2%.

February’s ratings and audience numbers included three milestone days from Super Bowl LII, and on Monday, Feb. 5, ESPN’s First Take equaled its highest-rated show ever with a 0.6 household rating.

In the last month, First Take has gone on the road at the Super Bowl and at NBA All-Star from Los Angeles, while welcoming high-profile guests to the show including: Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, Super Bowl champion Alshon Jeffrey; NFL stars Von Miller, Todd Gurley, Marcus Mariota and Travis Kelce; and celebrities Snoop Dogg, Kevin Hart and Quavo (Migos).

First Take is hosted by Molly Qerim and features Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman – airs weekday mornings from 10 a.m. – noon ET focusing on the most compelling and entertaining topics of the day from the world of sports.
