On March 27, espnW will launch the Be Honest with Cari Champion live-audience salon series at ABC studios in New York. In these multi-platform events, Champion will interview high-profile personalities from the sports world and beyond, discussing their lives on and off the field, and the heartfelt topics that matter most to her guests. In the first installment, which will be presented by Toyota, Champion will have candid conversations with Olympic and X Games gold medalist Chloe Kim, along with 2018 Paralympics silver medalist and Dancing with the Stars finalist Amy Purdy, both of whom are Team Toyota athletes. Additional Be Honest events will be announced later.

Be Honest with Cari Champion began as an espnW podcast and became a regular SportsCenter feature. Since its inception, the Be Honest podcast has featured interviews with former NBA star Kobe Bryant, NBA PA executive director Michele Roberts, WNBA champion Candace Parker, actor/comedian Kevin Hart, rapper/actor Ice Cube, and more. At the 2017 espnW: Women + Sports Summit, Champion hosted a Be Honest interview with GRAMMY Award-winning artist Sheryl Crow.

In February 2018, Champion was named the third co-host of SportsNation, ESPN’s afternoon show that melds sports and pop culture. Prior to joining SportsNation, Champion was named SportsCenter anchor in July 2015, and in February 2016, she was named co-anchor for SportsCenter Coast-to-Coast with David Lloyd. Previously, Champion served as host of ESPN2’s First Take, where she shared the debate table with featured commentators Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith and moderated their debate topics while offering her perspective and insight.

Before her time at ESPN, Champion was an anchor and courtside reporter at the Tennis Channel. Additionally, she served as an entertainment/lifestyle reporter doing features for The Insider, Hollywood 411 and Starz Entertainment.
