ESPN NBA Doubleheader on Wednesday Up 40 Percent in Metered Market Ratings

NBA on ABC Viewership Up Five Percent from Last Year

ESPN’s Wednesday NBA doubleheader was up 40 percent in metered market ratings from the comparable doubleheader last year, according to Nielsen. The two games averaged a 1.4 metered market rating, up from a 1.0. Both the Boston Celtics vs. Toronto Raptors game and the Golden State Warriors vs. New Orleans Pelicans game telecasts delivered a 1.4 rating.

The Celtics victory over the Raptors was up from last year’s Los Angeles Lakes vs. Oklahoma City Thunder game that delivered a 1.2 metered market rating. The Warriors victory over the Pelicans was up from the Denver Nuggets vs. LA Clippers game that drew a 0.8 rating.

ESPN’s NBA coverage continues on Friday as DeMarcus Cousins is expected to return for the Golden State Warriors as the defending NBA Champions take on the LA Clippers at 10:30 p.m. At 8 p.m., LaMarcus Aldridge and the San Antonio Spurs visit Karl-Anthony Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Additionally, the NBA on ABC is currently up five percent in viewership from last season entering the launch of the fourth season of ESPN’s NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC presented by HyperX Gaming this weekend, Jan. 19. This Saturday, the Houston Rockets and M.V.P. candidate James Harden will host the Los Angeles Lakers at 8:30 p.m. with NBA Countdown presented by Straight Talk Wireless preceding the broadcast at 8 p.m.

Earlier in the day, NBA Saturday on ABC presented by HyperX Gaming will be home to special Saturday matinee game at 3:30 p.m. as the Philadelphia 76ers and Joel Embiid host the Oklahoma City Thunder and Russell Westbrook and Paul George.
